We know some of you have been wondering about the status of PIX 2018.

To make a long story short: there will NOT be a PIX 2018.

We apologize for the late announcement of this fact.

We are, however, already working on PIX 2019 and plan to return to the August Wilson Center in April 2019.

We will make a formal announcement in the summer of this year.

Thank you for your past support.

Ed Piskor is a Made-in-Pittsburgh comics success story. Knowing from an early age that a career making comics was what he wanted, Piskor set about reaching that goal with a single minded determination. First by endlessly honing his comics chops, then by digging up whatever work he could, eventually gaining the attention of Harvey Pekar, who gave Piskor his first big break, offering him a shot at illustrating one his short pieces for an upcoming American Splendor anthology. Pekar was duly impressed when he received the finished a professionally polished piece of work ahead of schedule and offered Piskor further assignments, culminating in two book-length collaborations, Macedonia and The Beats. Piskor then dove head first into the world of self-publishing, with Wizzywig, his tale of phone-phreakers and proto-hackers that he self-published in four softcover volumes, which were subsequently collected in a single volume hardcover published by Top Shelf. This project led to an “in” with the publishers of BoingBoing, who offered him an online platform for his next project, Hip Hop Family Tree, which has since grown to be a global sensation, published in four volumes, two box sets and twelve standard comic books, all from Fantagraphics, as well as involving Piskor in the production of a host of ancillary projects connecting the worlds of hip hop and comics

Jim Rugg is a comics industry legend based here in Pittsburgh, PA. A tireless technical innovator, Rugg has steadily added to the visual vocabulary of comics, creating new ways to present and contextualize space and time with his game-changing use of Photoshop and over-the-top dynamic layouts. A long-time professional illustrator and designer, Rugg first gained wide attention for his comics work in 2004 with his original Street Angel series from Slave Labor Graphics. While Rugg went on to do many high profile jobs for DC, Dark Horse and Image, he is best known for his original, creator-owned work, largely published by AdHouse Books and frequently done in collaboration with writer pal, Brian Maruca, which include the hardcover Street Angel collection, the graphic novel Afrodisiac, his series of Notebook Drawings, and his turbo-charged compendium, Supermag. Things are now coming full circle in 2017, with the Image Comics release of the first in a series of all-new, original Street Angel stand-alone hardcovers: Street Angel After School Kung Fu Special.

PIX is pleased to announce Connor Willumsen as a Special Guest at PIX 2017! Willumsen is a Canadian comics artist and illustrator currently working out of Montreal. While his illustrations have appeared in some pretty high profile places – such as Criterion Collection DVDs, just for starters – his comics work is less well known, primarily appreciated by other comics makers and the comics cognoscenti. As such, however, it has had an outsize influence on the comics community at large. His best known print comics work is likely his series, Treasure Island, published by Breakdown Press in the UK. He is also a dedicated proponent of straight up drawing, and has recently had two drawing collections published by Comics Workbook here in Pittsburgh.

Anyone unfamiliar with his work should immediately head to connorwillumsen.com. Be sure to check out "Sunset People," it’s a wow!

Untold Tales of Bigfoot:

Story: Scout’s a carefree dog from the suburbs whose terrible hunting and tracking skills are no help whatsoever when he gets lost in the woods on a family camping trip. Alone, hungry, and far from home, Scout has to find his way back. But lurking in the forest is a mysterious beast known as Bigfoot, and he has other plans.

He may be terrifying, but Bigfoot’s also lonesome. Making friends is difficult when you’re an eight-foot monster, so he’d like Scout to stick around. The mismatched pair may be working at cross-purposes, but they team up to survive trigger-happy poachers, deadly terrain, and ferocious wildlife. And they may even solve a decades-old mystery before their journey comes to an end.
